These two surveys, one for people with early psychosis or schizophrenia and one for family members, provided us with opinions and perspectives from three hundred and sixty people from across Canada that live the experience of early psychosis or schizophrenia every day. The surveys considered how symptoms and side effects of medications impact quality of life for people with early psychosis or schizophrenia. The surveys also considered what helps and what hinders recovery.

While we know much about early psychosis and schizophrenia and the effects of symptoms, medications, and recovery, it is imperative to continue to hear from people with lived experience and family members on these issues.

It is only through listening to and understanding individuals’ personal experiences that we will authentically be able to continue to work toward improved treatments and services that will support recovery and a better quality of life for individuals with early psychosis and schizophrenia and their families.

Below are two infographics that offer some highlights from the surveys.
